Am I dreaming right now?

Back in college I became really interested in lucid dreaming, the act of dreaming while being aware that you are dreaming. I first ran across it in a book by Edgar Cayce called Mysteries of the Mind. The book wasn't focused on dreaming, but rather the power of the mind. It was a little far-fetched, but it stirred an interest in me for learning how to control some of my dreams. For a while I kept a dream journal and actually experienced a couple lucid dreams. I am not a new age dreamer looking to enlighten my spiritaual auroa, I just like flying in my dreams. It's scientific to me.

In these lucid dreams the reintegration of the psychic functions is so complete that the sleeper remembers day-life and his own condition, reaches a state of perfect awareness, and is able to direct his attention, and to attempt different acts of free volition. ---Frederik van Eeden, A Study of Dreams (1913)

I lost interest when I started working full time and eventally stopped trying. It takes a lot of focus before you go to sleep at night and without interest, I found myself falling asleep and forgetting about it. I don't know what brought it up, but I am going to give it a try tonight. The times I actually experienced lucid dreaming, I was sleeping on my back. As long as Maggie doesn't have a bad night.

Re: Am I dreaming right now?

I have always found this fascinating. But, have never found the way to lucid dreaming. Is it something you learn or more mind control?

interesting
