Week One, Still Flying

I took the helicopter out several times this weekend and managed to only crash it a couple of times (crash meaning parts flying upon impact to the ground). I've only had to replace little things like blades (made of wood), landing skids, tail rudder etc. It seems however that when you crash a helicopter upside down you can do some severe damage to the rotor setup. I had to purchase a new rotor spindle ($9.00) to make it stable again.

So Jeff bit the bullet and purchased a Blade CP yesterday. He's been flying in the simulator over the weekend and it showed in his ability to hover. Last night we had both helicopters going in my driveway until about midnight. It was a blast.

Re: Week One, Still Flying

Don't feel bad, Brady. I crashed a paper airplane today. I had to just scrap the thing and make another. It's crazy how much it costs to control our own personal flying machines. Just be glad you are replacing a rotor spindle instead of the rather pricey right wing on one of my paper airplanes.

It sounds like you are having a pretty good time with the helicopter which makes me think that it was indeed an overdue childhood fantasy.

Can you fly your heli's into the "hot zones" at work to test the air, so you and Jeff dont have to?
