Google Maps: Real-Time Tracking via GPS

Jeff and I have created a real-time GPS tracker using Google Maps API. It's currently reading NMEA output from GpsGate simulating a drive around downton Little Rock, AR. The python script can read a standard (NMEA) GPS output via serial port as well. We plan on doing a demo run in our car using a laptop, JunxionBox, and GPS sometime this week. Here's the setup:

1. Python (xmlrpclib, pySerial, pyGPS, Zope)
2. GpsGate (gps simulator, 14 day trial)
3. MySQL
4. AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML)
5. And of course Google Maps API

For internet telephony voip, all you need to know is the specific brand of internet phone software you are looking for. The rest will be taken care of by the voip software. With most hosts, skype phone works just fine. A voip buster may be occasionally required though.

Nice work here Brady. I''m trying to do something like your project. I''m trying this approach:
- Use a Java mobile app that grabs the bluetooth gps signals and send it to the zope server using the gprs network. The rest is similar to your project.

I alread have found and tested the java code to get the the gps signals from my Razor v3 cellphone but i could not find a way to send them using the gprs network. Do you have an idea about a place where i can get help?

can i get the entire code if possible so that we can wrk on an extension (traffic estimation and expansion to more thn one user)....

Wow this is my first time to a blog and now I know why people enjoy reading and posting them. Would your real time GPS tracker allow me to track multiple items at the same time. Lets say where all my family members are on one screen?

i have gone through the code u have not metioned whre to paste the API Key can u please tell me where to paste the API key ?

i found your article on the net and want to use it to plot the location of our game viewing broadcast vehicles in the sabi sands game reserve in south africa. we broadcast live 365 days a year and would love to have the position of our vehicles to be displayed in real time while our viewers are watching the video stream.

i have been trying to connect the code snippets you have published, but my limited knowledge of these kind of things is letting me down. i have installed all the requitred programs and have a server with mysql. for now i would like to use gpsgates simulator to get a working example up and running.

any chance of you sending me a detailed step by step process to get it up and running? wild earth would be forever gratefull.
